The 2017 SEAA Cross Country Championships were held last Saturday (28th Jan) at Parliament Hill Fields, North London.
More than 2,000 male runners were unleashed, stampeding up one of the city’s best known viewpoints. One spectator was heard to say, “OH my god, it’s like Ben Hur,” as the human cavalcade thundered towards him. “More like Braveheart,” said another, when the forerunners of the brightly coloured pack crested the first hill. Its like a scene from a medieval battlefield.
Beside the course, hundreds of tents were pitched over a churned hillside, banners unfurled, bearing the colours and crests of running clubs from across the country.
It’s one of the greatest, most epic events you can ever take part in. You don’t have to be a Mo Farah or Paula Radcliffe to do so; it’s open to all Club Runners of all standards. Most of Poole Runners “old timers” will have run in the event many times.
Club Results are below. Let’s see if for 2018 we can double the number of Poole Runners attending this classic event.
