Welsh Weekend 23rd – 25th September 2016

The annual Welsh “training weekend” was again a great success, Thanks to Chris and Janice for organising.  It is located in a bunkhouse in a remote area of the Black Mountains, just north of Abergavenny.

Friday night was spent hydrating in a nearby pub in preparation for Saturday’s run.  This was a group event over the high nearby hills. Much scrambling was involved to reach the ridge followed by running a section of Offer’s Dyke. The wind was howling and all enjoyed the challenge.

For the non-runners there was six hour walk lead by Brian Panton.  Both were followed by tea and cakes and the usual Saturday night pub session in which there was the traditional pool knockout competition, (final between Pete Couch and John Towner went to the last ball) now in its fourteenth year, for our rather odd trophy. On Sunday morning many walked up a nearby well known  mountain followed by a “cake shop visit” before returning home.  Next year has been booked!!
