The race has been selected as the Dorset County Championship race for the marathon. County championship eligibility:
. Born in Dorset
. Nine months continuous residence in Dorset immediately prior to the date of the race.
. Nine months service in HM Forces stationed in Dorset immediately prior to the date of the race.
. No athlete is allowed to compete in the Championships of more than one County in any one nine month period.
