We welcome children aged 8 to 18 no matter what their ability, fitness or background in sport. We encourage everyone to try a range of activities that are fun. We encourage a strong team spirit throughout training and competitive events.

We’ve got lots of training sessions taking place each week for our juniors to participate in. If you are interested in joining view our membership page. Our dedicated junior sessions take place on Thursdays and Saturdays and include a wide range of activities. Other activities take place on different days, view our schedule for more information.
We have a large team of trained coaches covering different activities to help develop your child.
All coaches and assistant coaches have completed the England Athletics coaching courses. To become qualified they are all CRB/DBS checked. We also have a Child Protection/Welfare Officer.
Track and Field
Poole Runners has a strong Track and Field section to the club with all welcome from ages 8 years upwards. We encourage everyone to “have a go” at all disciplines whether it is throws, jumps, sprints, middle or long distance, cross country, or any other athletics event.
There are two designated sessions for those athletes under 18 years old held on Thursdays and Saturdays will include a wide range of activities.
Poole Runners enters both the Wessex Cross Country Leagues (races are Sundays and Hampshire Cross Country Leagues (Races Saturdays).The Hampshire League is a higher standard but shouldn’t scare anyone off. It is great training and improves road running stamina.
The events are free to enter for all club members, just turn up and run.
QuadKids is the perfect stepping stone encompassing all the key aspects of athletics; endurance, speed, agility and strength.
Poole Runners take part in the Wessex Athletics League. This league is open to under 11’s to u 17yrs. There is a good level of competition. This is also a league that is a good introduction to competing in athletics. If you are interested in competing in this league please contact Sue Cracknell as team managers for this event. The Sporthall Competition events for 2016 are:
- Sat 1st October,
- Sat 29th October,
- Sat 17th December,
- Sat 28th January

PEDSSA Cross Country
This event is organised through schools with each athlete representing their own school. The athlete should check that their school has completed the entry and what transport, kit etc they require. If competing it is recommended not to attend training that evening. The next dates are:
- Thursday, Sept. 15 at 3.45 at Baiter Park.
- Thurs. Oct. 13 at 3.45 at Sandbanks.
- Thurs. Nov. 10 at 2.30 at venue to be decided.
- Thurs. Dec. 08 at 2.30 at Ferndown Upper School.
Boys’ and girls races for teams from Years 5 and 6, Year 7, Years 8 and 9, Years 10 and 11, and years 12 and 13.
